FAQs
You Ask - I Answer
What type of therapy do you provide?
I take an evidence based and practice based approach. What does that mean? It means lots of the evidence based therapies have only been tested on white folks and it does not necessarily mean that it will be as effective for BIPOC folks. I use a mix of ACT, DBT, CBT and incorporate cultural and life considerations to my work with my clients.
How long does each therapy session take?
45-60 minutes! Honestly, I usually end up taking the full 55-60 minutes. I try to give 5 minutes in between sessions so I can be as prepared as I was for you for my next client!
Do you provide in-person counseling?
At this time, all services are virtual due to Covid-19.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I do not accept insurance and am considered an Out-of-Network (OON) Provider.
Regardless if you come to work with me or someone else, it is important to be aware if you do use your insurance, providers are required to provide a mental health diagnosis and there is no guarantee to confidentiality regarding your diagnosis and what is done in our work together.
How long will I be in therapy?
Each person comes to counseling with different needs and this will vary based on the individual. We will discuss this at the intake session.
